Cyclists gather for Ride of Silence in Nolanville to honor those killed while riding.

Nolanville— May 19, 2022  Dozens of cyclists quietly took over the streets of Nolanville on Wednesday night for a ride of silence to remember those who have been hurt or killed while cycling.

The Ride of Silence is an annual event where cyclists across the country join for the same cause; to raise awareness among motorists, the public and decision makers of the dangers cyclists face on shared roadways.

Here in Nolanville, more than 40 people set out from City Hall to do just that, remember those lost but also share a message of safety.

Central Texas offers some of the best biking routes available, but with that distinction comes the memory of the 11 cyclists who have lost their lives on our roads over the last 20 years.

Mayor of Nolanville, Andy Williams and Economic Development Coordinator, Kerry Fillip, led a small ceremony prior to the ride. Names of those cyclists were shared as well as a poem written by Mike Murgas.

After the small ceremony, all riders weaved through the roads of Nolanville with a Police escort before returning to city hall.
