The City of Nolanville is extremely proud to recognize community members Marlene Fey and Colleen Smith-Fey as our March Community Spotlight.
Marlene and Colleen have been long-time public servants for Nolanville and the various organizations that depend upon volunteers to get things done for our community. There is never a day that Marlene and Colleen are not doing something for someone else. If they see a need, they don’t just point it out for someone else to do, they ACT!
When they noticed the newly planted trees on 10th Street were in need of a bit of reshaping, they just jumped right in. After a bit of shaping, they noticed the beds needed mulch. The mulching led to trash collection on a regular basis. Without knowing it, they had just silently created the “Adopt-a-Spot” program that is now a part of Keep Nolanville Beautiful.
As an employee of the City of Nolanville, Marlene is the definite lead in our recycling efforts. Knowing that if the process is easy, more folks will do it, Marlene has taken on the responsibility to recycle ALL of the city’s toner and ink cartridges. In addition, she conducts a daily canvas of the building ensuring that all cardboard and paper make their way into the recycle trailer.
Without fail, Marlene and Colleen are the hardest working duo at each of our city-wide cleanups. They take great pride in their town and show that love in very realistic terms of sweat, time, calluses and even a blister or two. Thank you for your efforts in fostering a spirit of service, promoting beautification and leading the charge for pollution prevention/reduction throughout our community.
