02/01/2024

The Nolanville Fire Department recently rehearsed its emergency response capabilities by participating in a Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) refresher course conducted by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). This specialized training, tailored for individuals holding HAZMAT Technician certifications, aimed to refresh essential skills and fulfill mandatory training hours crucial for maintaining proficiency in handling hazardous incidents.

Led by instructors from TEEX and held in Copperas Cove, the refresher class provided Nolanville Fire Department personnel with a review of core concepts in hazardous materials response that are crucial for emergency responders to stay on top of in order to evaluate HAZMAT risks effectively.

"Participating in the TEEX HAZMAT refresher class was invaluable for our team," says Nolanville Fire Chief, Robert Cunningof the Nolanville Fire Department. "It allowed our department to sharpen their skills, exchange knowledge with peers, and stay current with best practices. This ensures we can respond effectively and safeguard our community in the event of a hazardous materials emergency."

The collaboration between the Nolanville Fire Department and TEEX exemplifies a proactive approach to emergency preparedness and emphasizes the significance of ongoing training in safeguarding lives and property. By investing in continuous learning and skills enhancement, emergency responders remain at the forefront of readiness, and are able to effectively respond to any hazardous materials incidents that may arise.
